When to go
The water’s always clear. The price isn’t.
December to April is dry and settled. May and November are the value windows with nearly the same water. August and September carry the real hurricane risk.
| Months | Season | What it’s like |
|---|---|---|
| Dec – Feb | Peak | Dry and pleasantly warm. Occasional cold fronts bring wind and choppier boat days. Book early, especially holidays. |
| Mar – Apr | Peak | Arguably the best weather of the year. The National Family Island Regatta fills George Town in late April. |
| May | Value | Warm water, calm seas, falling prices. A sweet spot. |
| Jun – Jul | Hurricane season | Hot, more afternoon showers, low prices. Early-season storm risk is lower than late summer. |
| Aug – Oct | Hurricane season | Highest storm risk, especially August and September. Some small businesses close. Insure the trip. |
| Nov | Value | Season winding down, water still warm, rates still lower before December. |

Tips
Timing your boat days
- Tides matter more than weather. Thunderball Grotto is best at slack tide; sandbars appear at low tide. Good captains plan the route around both.
- Keep a spare day. Wind can cancel a boat day. Put the big charter early in your trip so you can reschedule.
- Go early. Leaving at or before 8 a.m. beats the Nassau day boats to Pig Beach.
